Alexis Butterfield is a contemporary landscape painter based in Liverpool. From a fine art background, he has worked professionally for 30 years in the fields of architectural design and as a conservation adviser, leading the creation of award-winning sustainable communities and healthy neighbourhoods.

Alexis’ paintings of Merseyside capture his knowledge and love of architecture and his sense of place, using painting techniques that follow a tradition of modern romantic British landscape painting. This includes a strong and distinctive use of high-chroma colour and dramatic lighting effects. The places he depicts are the everyday places that surround him and that he has spent a career appreciating.

Alexis was a finalist at the VAO International Artist Awards. He is currently collaborating with the Port Sunlight Museum Trust on a project with a series of unique artworks  and his paintings and prints are represented in galleries and shops across the Merseyside region.
