Seaside shelter and fort, New Brighton

acrylic on wood panel

This is a small painting on a wood panel is of the seafront in New Brighton. A Victorian seaside shelter stands in the foreground, while the Perch Rock Battery sits like a toy fort behind it. In the distance are cranes of the modern container port. The painting combines rich colours with simplified forms to capture the gentle melancholy of an end of the day at the beach.
