The Central Hotel in Birkenhead, painted on what turned out to be the last sunny day of the year. The pub has been empty for over a decade and is threatened with demolition. Built in 1939 during the heyday of the docks and shipyard it has moderne fluted details around the front doors.
In the foreground is the Edward VII clock tower, a surviving slice of Edwardian wedding cake architecture.
